Short Bio

"Confess: The Most Controversial Iranian Metal Band | The Iranian Metal Guerrillas" Loudwire

Formed in Tehran in 2010 and now based in Oslo, Norway, Confess is known for their defiant political messages and heavy sound. Often referred to as the "most controversial Iranian metal band," Confess faced severe punishment for their music. In November 2015, members Nikan Khosravi and Arash Ilkhani were arrested by Iranian authorities. They spent three months in solitary confinement and over a year in the public section of Tehran's Evin Prison, charged with blasphemy and "propaganda against the state."

Their second album, featuring tracks like 'Thorn Within', 'Teh-Hell-Ran', and 'I’m Your God Now', was labeled blasphemous for its bold criticism of Iran's political and religious systems. In July 2019, the band was sentenced to more than 14 years in prison, and Nikan was given an additional 74 lashes.

After escaping, Iran, Nikan and Arash relocated to Norway, rebuilding the band with new Norwegian members. They have since performed across Europe, supporting acts like Nile and Belphegor.

Confess is set to release their next album, "Destination: Addiction," on January 31, 2025, with the legendary George Kollias from Nile on drums. Their story is one of defiance, proving that music can be a weapon against oppression.

Confess isn't just a band. They are a testament to the power of music as a tool for resistance, even when faced with unimaginable odds.
